Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cans (5 oz each) chunk light tuna, drained
  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon sweet pickle relish
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped celery
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped red onion
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 4 slices bread (sourdough or your favorite)
  • 24 slices cheddar cheese (or your preferred cheese)
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the drained tuna, mayonnaise, sweet pickle relish, celery, red onion, and Dijon mustard.
  2. Mix well until all ingredients are incorporated. Season with salt and pepper to your liking.
  3. Lightly butter one side of each slice of bread.
  4. Place two slices of bread, butter-side down, in a non-stick skillet or on a griddle over medium heat.
  5. Top each slice with 2 slices of cheese, then spread half of the tuna salad mixture evenly over the cheese.
  6. Top with the remaining two slices of bread, butter-side up.
  7. Grill for 3-5 minutes per side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted and gooey.
  8. Slice in half and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For a healthier version, use Greek yogurt instead of mayonnaise.
  • Experiment with different cheeses like Swiss, provolone, or Monterey Jack.
  • Add a slice of tomato or some avocado for extra flavor and texture.
