Description
A classic and comforting tuna melt sandwich. This recipe features creamy tuna salad grilled between slices of bread with melted cheese for a quick and satisfying meal.

- 2 cans (5 oz each) chunk light tuna, drained
- 1/3 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon sweet pickle relish
- 1 tablespoon finely chopped celery
- 1 tablespoon finely chopped red onion
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 4 slices bread (sourdough or your favorite)
- 2–4 slices cheddar cheese (or your preferred cheese)
- 2 tablespoons butter, softened
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, combine the drained tuna, mayonnaise, sweet pickle relish, celery, red onion, and Dijon mustard.
- Mix well until all ingredients are incorporated. Season with salt and pepper to your liking.
- Lightly butter one side of each slice of bread.
- Place two slices of bread, butter-side down, in a non-stick skillet or on a griddle over medium heat.
- Top each slice with 2 slices of cheese, then spread half of the tuna salad mixture evenly over the cheese.
- Top with the remaining two slices of bread, butter-side up.
- Grill for 3-5 minutes per side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted and gooey.
- Slice in half and serve immediately.
Notes
- For a healthier version, use Greek yogurt instead of mayonnaise.
- Experiment with different cheeses like Swiss, provolone, or Monterey Jack.
- Add a slice of tomato or some avocado for extra flavor and texture.
- Serve with a side of chips, soup, or a simple salad.
