Description
This recipe delivers the ultimate chocolate lava cake in just 20 minutes. Enjoy a rich, molten chocolate center with a tender cake exterior. Perfect for a quick, decadent dessert.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 4 ounces bittersweet chocolate, chopped
- 2 large eggs
- 2 egg yolks
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Butter and flour two (6-ounce) ramekins.
- Melt butter and chopped chocolate together in a heatproof bowl set over a saucepan of simmering water, or in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together eggs, egg yolks, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined.
- Gradually whisk the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture until smooth.
- Gently fold in the flour until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared ramekins.
- Place the ramekins on a baking sheet. Bake for 12-14 minutes, or until the edges are set and the center is still soft and gooey.
- Let the cakes cool in the ramekins for 1 minute. Carefully invert each ramekin onto a serving plate.
- Serve immediately, dusted with powdered sugar if desired.
Notes
- Use good quality bittersweet chocolate for the best flavor.
- Do not overbake, or you will lose the molten center.
- Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or fresh berries for an extra treat.
