- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 cup hot chocolate mix (from a packet)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- Add the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.
- Carefully stir in the boiling water and hot chocolate mix until just combined. The batter will be thin.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before inverting it onto a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- You can frost the cake with your favorite chocolate frosting or a simple ganache.
- For an even richer flavor, use good quality cocoa powder.
- Ensure the boiling water is very hot when you add it to the batter.
