Ingredients

  • 4 pounds apples (about 810 medium), peeled, cored, and quartered
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice (optional)
  • 12 tablespoons sugar or maple syrup (optional, adjust to taste)

Instructions

  1. Place the quartered apples, water, cinnamon, and lemon juice (if using) into your Instant Pot.
  2. Secure the lid and set the vent to the sealing position.
  3. Cook on High Pressure for 8 minutes.
  4. Allow for a Natural Pressure Release for 10 minutes, then carefully perform a Quick Release for any remaining pressure.
  5. Open the lid. Using an immersion blender or a potato masher, mash the apples to your desired consistency.
  6. If using sweetener, stir it in now. Taste and adjust cinnamon or sweetener as needed.
  7. Serve warm or let cool completely before storing.

Notes

  • Choose a mix of sweet and tart apples for the best flavor.
  • For baby food, omit sugar and lemon juice and mash until very smooth.
  • Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
