A quick and flavorful Honey Garlic Shrimp Stir-Fry, perfect for a healthy weeknight meal. This recipe features tender shrimp coated in a sweet and savory honey garlic sauce with fresh vegetables.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup soy sauce (use tamari for gluten-free)
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 cup broccoli florets
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 carrot, julienned
- Cooked rice or noodles, for serving
- Sesame seeds, for garnish (optional)
- Green onions, chopped, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, cornstarch, and water until smooth. Set aside.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
- Add minced garlic and cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
- Add shrimp to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, until pink and cooked through. Remove shrimp from skillet and set aside.
- Add broccoli florets, sliced red bell pepper, and julienned carrot to the skillet. Stir-fry for 3-5 minutes, until vegetables are tender-crisp.
- Pour the honey garlic sauce mixture into the skillet with the vegetables. Bring to a simmer and cook, stirring, until the sauce thickens, about 1-2 minutes.
- Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet and toss to coat with the sauce. Stir in sesame oil.
- Serve immediately over cooked rice or noodles, garnished with sesame seeds and chopped green onions if desired.
Notes
- For a gluten-free version, use tamari instead of soy sauce.
- Adjust the amount of honey to your preference for sweetness.
- Feel free to add other vegetables like snap peas, mushrooms, or water chestnuts.
- Ensure the cornstarch mixture is fully dissolved to prevent lumps in the sauce.
