Description

This is a simple no-knead bread recipe perfect for beginners. You can make delicious, crusty homemade bread with minimal effort.


Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon active dry yeast
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons salt
  • 1 1/2 cups lukewarm water

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, yeast, and salt.
  2. Add lukewarm water and mix until just combined. The dough will be shaggy and sticky.
  3. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it rest at room temperature for at least 12 hours, or up to 24 hours.
  4. When ready to bake, generously flour a clean surface. Scrape the dough onto the floured surface.
  5. Gently shape the dough into a ball. Do not overwork it.
  6. Place the dough on a piece of parchment paper. Cover with a clean towel and let it rest for 30 minutes.
  7. While the dough rests, preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C) with a Dutch oven (with lid) inside for at least 30 minutes.
  8. Carefully remove the hot Dutch oven from the oven. Remove the lid.
  9. Using the parchment paper, carefully lower the dough into the hot Dutch oven.
  10. Cover the Dutch oven with the lid and bake for 30 minutes.
  11. Remove the lid and bake for another 15-20 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 200-210°F (93-99°C).
  12. Carefully remove the bread from the Dutch oven and let it cool completely on a wire rack before slicing.

Notes

  • The longer the dough ferments, the more flavor it will develop.
  • If you don’t have a Dutch oven, you can bake the bread on a baking sheet, but the crust may not be as crispy.
  • Adjust water slightly if your flour is very dry or humid.
