Easy Beefaroni: Your Perfect Comfort Meal

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 12 ounces elbow macaroni, cooked according to package directions
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef with the chopped onion until the beef is no longer pink. Drain off any excess grease.
  3. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute more until fragrant.
  4. Add the crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Stir in the cooked elbow macaroni.
  6. Transfer the mixture to a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
  7. Top with shredded cheddar cheese and mozzarella cheese, if using.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Let stand for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For a spicier dish, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce.
  • You can substitute other pasta shapes for elbow macaroni.
