- 120 ml water
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
- 2 tablespoons sweetener like maple syrup or sugar (optional, to taste)
Instructions
- Place chopped apples, water, and lemon juice in a large saucepan.
- Cover and bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
- Reduce heat to low and simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until apples are very tender, stirring occasionally.
- Remove from heat. Mash the apples with a potato masher or fork for a chunky texture, or use an immersion blender for a smoother consistency.
- Stir in cinnamon and sweetener, if using.
- Let cool before serving or storing.
