- 1 cup warm milk
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
Instructions
- Combine warm milk, yeast, and sugar in a large bowl. Let stand for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- Stir in melted butter and egg.
- Add salt and gradually add flour, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Knead dough on a lightly floured surface for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
- Punch down dough. Roll out into a 12×18 inch rectangle.
- Mix brown sugar and cinnamon. Spread softened butter over the dough, then sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar mixture.
- Roll up dough tightly from the long side. Pinch seam to seal.
- Place seam-side down in a greased 9×5 inch loaf pan. Cover and let rise for 30-45 minutes, or until nearly doubled.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
- Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use whole milk.
- Ensure your yeast is active for proper rising.
